Thirty Under 30: Devorah Werner, CKBD

Devorah Werner is one of the outstanding young professionals in NKBA’s Thirty Under 30 Class of 2024.

As the Founder, Owner and Designer of Brooklyn, NY-based WERKI by D, LLC, a Kitchen Design Studio, Devorah Werner has positioned herself as an expert in designing kosher kitchens, especially when space is limited as it is in many New York City residences. Her skill set stems from both her comprehensive understanding of kosher cultural traditions and lifestyle and her studies in Residential Planning at The Art Institute.

Since founding her studio in 2020, Devorah’s projects have included designing and overseeing the remodel of multiple kitchens and baths in a high-rise luxury building where units sold for several million dollars. She serves as an in‐house dealer of custom cabinetry and works hand in hand with architects, contractors, designers, homeowners and installers to streamline the kitchen process from the preliminary design phase through installation and full functionality.

“My goal is to fulfill my customer’s design vision by providing them with an incomparable experience: a combination of unique design solutions and efficient strategies for project execution,” she said. “I am a passionate, detail‐oriented designer, and my ability to understand the needs/wants of my clients has translated into a design that they love.”

Devorah’s personal design style is modern with a touch of traditional design elements. “I love a clean, open space that is warm and inviting,” she noted. In 2022, Devorah added to her credentials by earning her CKBD (Certified Kitchen and Bath Designer) from NKBA. She is also an active member of NKBA’s Metro New York chapter.

Above all else, Devorah appreciates that the career she fell in love with is never boring. “My favorite part of my job is that there is no typical day,” she explained. “One day I can be at a jobsite meeting with my client and their crew, the next day I can be tile shopping, and the following day I can be in the office designing beautiful kitchens.”

When she’s not hard at work, Devorah says she enjoys brisk walking, cooking for others and spending quality time with family.
